Excuse the mess

This blog is not an April Fool’s joke. Sorry about the mess up there on my header. I need my husband to fix it and he’s committed to other more critical programming projects for a few weeks, so we may have to live with it for a while.

If you came expecting to see my new April theme, and could hardly stand the anticipation, I apologize for the let-down! I probably won’t write much until it’s fixed, for the same reason I don’t invite people over when the house is a disaster; it’s hard to see past the dirty dishes and appreciate the good conversation. Unless you’re a really good friend.

Enjoy a lovely April! I plan on learning how to plant a vegetable garden that will succeed in Central Oregon, cleaning out my guest room, writing letters to my cousins, catching up on some French, and celebrating the risen Lord. What about you?

Real letter? Like actual letters on paper? You rock!

Sarah, yes, real letters on paper! My mom comes from a long line of letter writers. Her mom, the grandma I shared with these cousins, was an amazing letter writer. During the War (WWII) I think she kept many soldiers sane with her letter writing, and a few of them even came and lived with her after the war as they made their way back into civilization.

So, the old art of letter writing on paper is something I hope I never lay aside. I don’t have great handwriting, but nothing compares to receiving a word written in one’s own hand.

Goodness Jen, my April started abruptly! My daughter decided to lash out on one of her little friends today. Well…not really her friend, but my girlfriends son. So I will start April by praying for patience as we do out best to raise her to be a little more kind to others.

I will also try to spend more time on my aprons. Who knows, they could be a hit someday.

    Enjoy writing your letters.

    Love,
    Becky

Well, we can tackle the garden thing together. Are you starting anything inside this year? I ‘m not thinking about it too much…yet, but want to do big things this year…

Oh, I’ll be planting a garden, if it ever stops raining. And job hunting.

    Hi Jen,

This blog looks far (très très loin)from an April fool’s joke: it’s lovely, informative, inspiring. As for April plans: moi aussi — I’ll be working in the garden! Here’s to the next harvest — happy jardinage to all :-)

Becky, I’m sorry about the little one. I guarantee it’s just a terrible phase she’ll grow out of quickly. I’m excited about your aprons and have already told some friends about them. I believe they WILL be a hit!

Amanda, Yes, I’ll be starting some things inside this year. Going to the greenhouse next week to get some advice! I’ll let you know about that…

Fencepost, Best wishes on the job hunting!

Kristin, mille mercis for your kind words! I saw the photo of le jardin with the beautiful yellow carpet–you’ll be very busy. :-) Aside from grapes, what else do you plant?

My April plans are very similar to yours except in Western NC instead of Oregon : )
