What a darling hat Little L! My older sister and I used to dig dirt and put it in our 'potions' or mix it with soap as perfume for our mom.

My girls have always loved to dig-and still do love to dig. I think it is the pleasure of the dirt on your hands and hoping you'll unearth a great treasure too.

Cute picture!!

halfmoon girl, sounds wonderful!

I should have clarified--boys AND girls both like to dig!! My little girls also love their shovels, but I will say, not quite as much as my little boys.

I loved making mudpies, too.

Fencepost, Yes, digging to China was a favorite pasttime! I had to do a lot of digging *for work* as a child, like digging out my dad's tree wells and such. Even then, digging was not too tiresome.

All of my kids have enjoyed digging in the dirt.
I can remember pretending to dig to China.

Hi there Jen! I was just digging in the dirt with my bare hands today, replanting some things, thinking how relaxing it was. I loved to make mud pies as a child and my kids enjoy it too.
