A Poet’s Cat, sedate and grave
As poet well could wish to have,
Was much addicted to inquire
For nooks to which she might retire,
And where, secure as mouse in chink,
She might repose, or sit and think.
- - - William Cowper
Our cat, Tawny is fond of napping, as most cats are. He’s dozing in what I like to call the townhouse - his place on top, the dog in the bottom apartment. My husband and son built this cozy accommodation just before winter, and it was uncanny how each animal instinctively knew where his place was.
I tried to shoo Riley into his house so I could have the perfect picture, but he would have none of it. It’s usually the cat who won’t cooperate with the camera, but today Tawny was quite obliging.
By the way, that is bits of a foam pad in the back of the dog house, not “doo doo” as my 5 year old said when she saw this picture. Riley tears out anything of comfort we try to place on the floor, whether it’s a blanket, a heated pad, or foam.
Love it! Our 2 cats and our dog would love this home!
Our dog is just the opposite - she leaves her comfortable pillow alone and pulls apart anything we put in the cat’s home for their comfort. She lives to torture those poor kitties.
Clever little critter house. I don’t have a cat, but I have 4 dogs. They sleep in the dog/laundry room. It has a dog door with their own porch that leads out into their own dog yard. When it’s sunny out, you can find all 4 of them napping on the sunny dog porch.

Mandi, Oh, what a naughty dog!
e-Mom, I’m allergic to cats, sadly. I’m okay with Tawny right now, because he’s still so young, but even now after holding him for more than 10 minutes I start to sneeze. So no cats living inside or sleeping on beds! It’s a real bummer, because I love this cat!
Grace, I know she would! I can see why having a pet in a little apartment in Dubai would be a bad idea! But hopefully, someday…
Becky, I hope we can get more dogs at some point. I just don’t know how Riley would accommodate another dog. He is incredibly territorial and dominant. Wow, your dogs have their own porch - you’re a great master. :-)

THAT is adorable!! Brilliant! Our cats sleep on our sunporch. Our dog sleeps in the living room. Most importantly, NO animals sleep with us!
Sarah, I’ll tell my husband that his cat/dog house is admired far and wide. :-)
I love that you have a sunporch. I’m enchanted by sunporches and have always wanted one.

How clever! Our cat sleeps on our beds, in a corner, stretched out on our hardwood floor–just about anywhere.
BTW, our cat looks just like yours. We call him “Rusty.” Funny!
We have no pets but I know if we have a cat, my daughter will be in love and will sleep with the cat - wherever the sleeping place may be!
Your Tawny is soo cute!!
