When Trials Come, sung by Margaret Becker (a long time favorite artist of mine), words and music by Keith Getty. You’ll love this Celtic-style song and the images of Ireland on this video. The album it’s from is full of Irish hymns and it’s on my wish list!
Hey, I’m headed out of town for a few days, but I have an unopened Platinum Collection of Adventures in Odyssey from Focus on the Family. I was wondering if your kids might like it. If so you can have it. It’s the producer’s picks from the first 20 years of Odyssey. Let me know. Maybe it would be a good excuse for us to meet and drink tea or coffee!!
Tipper, thank you. I’m not morbidly drawn to trials, I promise you. But for some reason, God has allowed me to see the beauty and redemptive power of trials, and songs like this completely speak to me. I told you in a recent post about how I memorized James chapter 1 as a very young adult, THE chapter to memorize if you’re interested in God’s interest in suffering. I didn’t know it at the time, but it would serve me well. And we’re entering an age of trials, I believe, for believers in this nation. If we can acknowledge them as loving chastenings from the Lord which will lead to perfecting us and making us more like Christ, we’ll do well.
Just read your reply to Tipper above. James is one of my favorite books… I’ve had my nose into it lately. I agree, we seem to be entering into a season of trials in this nation. “Loving chastenings of the Lord” is a healthy perspective on temporal suffering. :~D
I believe we have met before. When Trials Come is a beautiful song. Until I found your site tonight I had only the words and I made up my own melody. I was amazed at how close my melody was to the rendition on your page. Thank you.

Hi Jen,
I believe we have met before. When Trials Come is a beautiful song. Until I found your site tonight I had only the words and I made up my own melody. I was amazed at how close my melody was to the rendition on your page. Thank you.
