I'm glad you all liked the photo! Mark, yes, there was chewing gum under the lids. Dianne, it would be fun to refinish these someday, too. Sarge Charlie, that is really awesome that you used these desks back when you were a youngster! E-Mom, they are wonderfully easy to slide out of, and I can even sit in these little desks in comfort!

I love these. My Mom bought a similar set for us when we were young, and we actually had them in our elementary school classrooms too. The inkwells were long gone, but I remember how comfy the curved flip-up seats were… and so easy to slide out of!

since I am from the class of 55, in rural Georgia, I used one of those desk in my classrooms. I am posting late today since I just got of the Carnival Freedom and their first annual Bloggers Cruise, 700 bloggers on board, it was fun, next one from New Orleans in February 09.

That is completey, and totally cool. Both being used as desks and as a place for the kids to eat when company comes over. Very unique!

Welcome to the hunt! I have a child’s desk like this in my living room. On the front ‘seat’ are piled old children’s books. I love it and have had it for years (and refinished it too. Nice choice!
