Jennifer--if you get ready to read another awe-inspiring book filled with a too-incredible-to-believe story about perseverance and faith, then I highly recommend "Left to Tell" by Immaculee Illibigiza.

e-Mom, thanks for motivating me to write a book review! I hope you get a chance to read this book. I agree that there needs to be a balance of Spirit and Truth. It's funny, though, our religous culture here seems to be all one or the other.

Heidi, thank you so much for your input on a personal level about Brother Yun. He is always being attacked, even by other believers, who doubt his story, so I'm thankful for people like your parents who meet him in person and can testify to his integrity. I agree, it's a difficult book to read! I offered to let a friend borrow it, and she said, "I can't handle it right now, maybe later!"

Christie, I have just glazed over so many of the incredible events of Brother Yun's life story, and the full details of his prison escape are definitely worth reading. No one has ever escaped from that maximum security prison, and Yun's escape, while sounding totally ludicrous, has been verified by many, many people who were in prison with him. I hope you get a chance to read this!

Jen,

My parents work, in China, in the Hunan province and recently on a trip to Germany met this man. Apparently, the book does not exaggerate how extraordinary this man is. I can't get through the first 2 chapters of this book without crying like a baby. Something about it hits me so extremely hard. :)

Loved your review!

Wow! This sounds like an amazing book, and full of the powerful stories of the Spirit of God. We in the west do have a lot to learn about the supernatural side of our faith. We do seem too rational and materialistic and need to balance our knowledge of the Truth with more Spirit.

Thanks for sharing your excellent review, and for linking up with the November Book Fair.

Hugs to you! e-Mom
